Brown spots

HOW DO WE TREAT Brown spots?

Brown spots, also known as age or liver spots, are those small freckle-like marks that appear on the face, shoulders, arms, hands, and chest. These are the common areas because they see the most amount of sun exposure. Age spots are harmless and do not require any medical attention, but for cosmetic reasons, many people want them removed.

Trust us to help you achieve clearer, more radiant skin and regain your confidence.

Why do age spots develop?

Brown spots are the result of overactive pigment cells and excess melanin. Melanin is what gives our skin its dark pigmentation. Ultraviolet (UV) rays accelerate the production of melanin, and allow it to produce in clumps & higher concentrations. When enough melanin is concentrated in one area, a brown spot develops.

How can I prevent brown spots?

  • Use physical barriers:

Wear protective clothing, such as long-sleeved shirts and pants, and wide-brimmed hats to shield your skin from the sun.

  • Seek shade:

Limit your exposure during peak sun hours, typically between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

  • Avoid tanning beds:

Tanning beds also increase the risk of sun damage and spots.

  • Wear sunscreen daily:

Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every day, even when it's cloudy. For added protection, consider a tinted sunscreen with iron oxides, which can be especially helpful for medium to deep skin tones.
